Master Chef!
Preparing mini pizzas for the grandchildren’s teas.
Timetable of events today:
Two children up at 5.00am. (!!)
The rest followed at 6.30am. Mum was up with them all.
Breakfast.
I had a better night but had my breakfast in bed.
Then Home school from 9.30am. I sat with Toby who has a wipe clean workbook for numbers 0 to 20. He quite enjoyed it. Bright and cheerful pages with little counting exercises which made it fun. Like a big purple octopus for the questions about number 8.
Draw 5 candles on the birthday cake and so on. Of course to you teachers out there who are well versed in Early Years, you already know this stuff. ;-)
I used to teach Primary and particularly enjoyed Reception class.
Such little sponges, soaking up knowledge.
Libby, 8, was having a class zoom session with her teacher about Skara Brae Prehistoric village. She really enjoyed seeing her teacher and her classmates at the end. With the usual facility for “live chat” and comments
How much we’ve all of us had to learn this past year, when Zoom was just a word for describing speed. With the exception of a photographer for obvious reasons.
Sammy, 9, was doing some Advanced English interactive session on sentence construction and spelling.
He can do that on his own. We sat with the other two, all of us at the dining table.
Bonnie was with her mum in the front room playing with some toys.
Her dad on his usual morning in the “office” .
They were tired this afternoon after an early start so we all watched a film as Bonnie had her nap.
Various activities before tea. They are good at inventing their own scenarios when playing together. (Until one drops out and it grinds to a halt!).
At this point in time, 7.00pm, it feels very quiet!
They are all up in their loft bedroom either reading their own books or having a story.
Bonnie is in her travel cot. Hoping they manage a bit more sleep than last night.
Bug who can blame them if they don’t!
So many changes this past year, and the sudden shock a week ago of not being able to go to school.
They can see a lot of children going to school across from our house each morning, whilst they are not able to do so at home.
It must seem very strange. Trying to explain that these children can go, being those of support workers, whilst they cannot, is puzzling for them.
Another early night beckons for me. I listen to the radio on my phone. BBC Sounds is very good. I’m listening to a serial at the moment. I haven’t the energy to read a book just yet!
