Spring
It was quite a surprise this morning to find the winter aconites had started to flower under the pear tree; it was as if they were waiting until the ground had thawed out after the week-long frost. They are accompanied by the first few snowdrops, flowering on very short stems and not yet in their full glory. It was such a pleasantly warm day, ideal for outdoor jobs created by unruly ponies.
