Prescient

Can't remember anything of interest that happened today - went to the recycling bins on my way to Aldi (for a change), did a bit of marking, avoided eating root vegetables (also for a change) and did some yoga. I noticed that Ridgeback13 had moved the cushions around on her sofa yesterday evening, but I thought I'd save that thrill for tomorrow.

Have started reading again - I kind of stalled half way through Hemingway's Farewell to Arms when my brother died, but have finally finished it and have started on some new stuff. I've been meaning to read 'Lockdown' for ages - Peter May wrote it at least 15 years ago, and the backdrop to the story is London in lockdown because of a deadly virus. (Couldn't find a publisher at the time, apparently - they thought it too far-fetched!) He envisaged the virus being H5N1, with a much higher mortality than covid-19; but an astonishing amount of the circumstantial detail is spot on. The mask wearing, the suspicion of being close to each other, the 'Nightingale' type hospitals.....no mention of a vaccine thus far in the book, but I haven't finished it yet. I'm impressed by his prescience. A blipper, of course!
