Young and Old

From the baby immunisation clinic yesterday, to the over-80s covid vaccine clinic today - my 2 favourite age groups! Children and old people are often the best kind of people because they don’t tend to have that boring filter that makes conversations more socially acceptable and less real.

Some really touching moments too:
- Meeting a couple who have been together for 70 years, since they were 14!
- Chatting to 2 men, who had never met each other before, both of whom lived with and cared for their elderly mothers with dementia. Giving each other encouragement. One sharing contacts for organisations that had helped him through difficult times. There are many people patiently, quietly loving people faithfully. Most of them we’ve never heard of, but they are real heroes.
- One man, 88 years old who made me laugh, saying, “When you’re my age, the thing you look forward to most is Loose Women. I know more about the menopause than all the doctors in this place put together!!”
