Another triumph

Last week, the  Sky mini-box that allows us to watch our second TV stopped working.  I rang Sky to seek help. After the customary 25 minute wait on the phone, a helpful chap took me through some checks before confirming what I thought: it was broken.  He arranged to send me a new one, within 3 days.

Six days later it had not arrived. After the same telephonic ritual, another helpful chap told me that the order had been "mysteriously cancelled by the system." That would have sounded deeply troubling to someone who believes in conspiracy myths. I am not one of those, preferring to believe in the infinite capacity of human beings and their machines to cock things up.  He promised a new box would arrive today.

Well, it did, just five minutes into the promised delivery slot and after a bit of fiddling about, I got it to work. I must say I am impressed.
