I’m a very, very lucky woman
Yes that’s a picture of me in a hospital bed, where I spent most of today. Driving to work this morning when suddenly an ongoing car went into a full spin on black ice, I had enough time to think, “oh shit”, before his car hit mine. He spun, hitting me head on and then in the driver’s side. Airbags deployed, seltbelt did its job.
My chest hurt and knees, but I turned off the engine and tried to open car door to check on the other driver. That was when I realised I couldn’t get out. I was shouting for help and yelling ‘are you ok’ at the other driver. Then people arrived.
The first turned out to the parent of a former pupil, she recognised me, rang 999 and then school. Emergency services were great, though being cut out of your car is scary!
One CT scan, lots of checks and I’ve a fractured sternum, swollen left knee and stitches in the right one. I can move, battered bruised and sore but ok.
I owe a lot to BMW and my beloved, now deceased mini, Nigel ‘Enry.
I truly have a lot to be thankful for today.
