End of the Extension

Named as it is the final remaining navigable section of the Cannock Extension Canal.  Just beyond these boats is the A4 trunk road, which at one time crossed over the canal as it extended into the Norton Canes area of the town to serve local coal mines.

We weren't expecting this type of weather.  The forecast was for rain sweeping across the country from west to east, but by 11 am we had bright sunshine outside.  Unfortunately it did cloud over again, but at least we had sunshine for this portion of the walk.  I had to smile how the boaters had obviously been trimming back the willow to allow them to have a clear mooring.  I imagine it looks a lot different when the tree is in leaf.
