Drippy
After another prolonged spell of rain, Thorpe Wood was decidedly moist this afternoon, the ditches full and with pools of standing water glistening among the mosses of the woodland floor. The fruiting bodies of the mosses clothing ancient coppice stools were all festooned with droplets, miniature fairy lights sparkling in the gloom.
The rainfall has caused the river levels to rise sharply again, and much of the valley is flooded, though not yet reaching the levels experienced at Christmas. It's hard to work up the enthusiasm to get out for walks when most of the nearby open space is either underwater or has overused tracks in woodlands on clay, which have now developed into quagmires.
