Flooded marshes

Pre-sunrise down on the marshes this morning.  They are very flooded.  You may just be able to make out a gate left of picture.  I'm not sure it ever opens these days, but if it did it would open onto a lake, currently occupied by flocks of water birds.

Much of the rest of the morning I spent with a friend exploring bits of Winchester (residential streets mostly) neither of us have never seen.  Extraordinary.  We've both lived here so long and thought we knew it so well but ended up thoroughly discombobulated!  Good fun!
