When in Finland..........

..... you are likely to see some strange things. On a bitterly cold, literally freezing day in Aulanko Forest Park we came across two sights which will be bizarre to my Irish and British friends. On the left fishing in progress through a hole in ice thick enough to bear the weight of two guys. On the right, at a large hole in the ice, kept clear by an electrical device agitating the water, one of a party of three takes a dip. Note the hat to keep the head warm. You cannot see the gloves which stop you from sticking to the freezing hand rails on the way out. What you must also bear in mind is that nobody was wearing wet suits, nor dry suits.
