Fractured limestone

Sometimes the lake is so calm and blue. Usually in the summer. I can stand on my paddle board at Point Petre and look down to the depths and see the pebbles in the big slabs of fractured limestone, meters below. Other times the lake is bold and powerful and waves roll across the flat rocks washing them smooth.
I look out to the lake daily. It is where I cast my gaze. Today the ice has retreated which means the muskrats that feed on the edge of the ice are somewhere else. Tomorrow it is supposed to get cold again, temperatures falling to -7c so the ice will return over the next few days. It’s always changing. I’m so lucky to live by water!
