Blipsnap!
Picturemull's challenge for this Mono Monday is to take inspiration from this image. I confess to taking the easy option on this one!
My Maneki-neko comes from Japan and is sitting on a small faded Tatami mat I was given by the most wonderful owner of the Ryokan we were staying at in Nozawa Onsen in 2015.
Did you know (as I found out from google) that the original white colour of the Maneki-Neko cats is to get good luck and overall good fortune, while black is to ward off evil, red is for good health, yellow or gold is for wealth, pink is for romance and green for education? Mine is white. There is significance also about which paw is raised. Left paw invites customers or people, right invites money and good fortune, both paws invites protection of home or business. (Some suggest the right & left paws both invite business-related prosperity, but that the left paw is for businesses of the night, such as bars, geisha houses & restaurants. Use of lucky cats in homes is more recent).
A coin denotes wealth and material abundance while the bib and bell may relate to protection, as well as wealth and material abundance (showing respect and veneration for the cat, caring for the cat and keeping it warm, displaying wealth, gold bell as symbol of treasure -either material or non-material).
Happy Monday blippers and I wish you good luck and fortune.
Thanks for hosting Picturemull.
