Jelly ear fungus

Time to stop mentioning what its common name used to be I think.

This is popular in China both for medicinal purposes and as an ingredient in many Chinese dishes such as Hot and Sour soup.
Wikipedia says that in the early 20th. Century large volumes were exported from Australia to China. It is thought to have antitumour, hypoglycemic, anticoagulent and cholesterol lowering properties. However, I was not tempted to bring some home to test these claims.
