PictureMull is setting some fiendishly inventive Mono Monday challenges and I've finally manged to think of something. Lurking in a box Himself doesn't like them are two Staffordshire pussycats - sadly only replicas. I think they're rather sweet - they might need to be released!
A damp and murky day, I intended to start the painting in the bathroom - Himself having finished the carpentry which is looking superb. The paint pots got moved upstairs but that's about it. I got distracted by St Fionnchú, one of my exemplar wells in the possible book. As you know, saints are interesting characters and St Fionnchú (the name means White Hound) was a warrior saint - he used his crozier (called Headbattler) as a weapon and went into battling gnashing his teeth so that sparks flew, causing his opponents weapons to singe and burn! Not only that, he offered to let a miscreant king take his place in Heaven (already assured as he was a saint) and then to regain his place he had to do a penance - he hung for seven years on seven sickles. His holy well holds a cure for flesh wounds! You can see why the painting hasn't got done.
