Yet More Research

Previously I had commented on the slowly changing nature of railway timetables.

From a printing technology point of view the third big change came in 1962 when for the first time BR produced a timetable using off-set lithograph and (the then) new 'paperback' production techniques. Within 2 years all BRs timetables were produced in this way. This resulted in the demise of Henry Blacklock & Company whose technology was based on hot metal typesetting.

Further advances 10 years later saw the much smaller 'A5' sized timetables making their first appearance.
