That's All Folks
After the morning walk, Angie spoke to Farmer Andreas in the village and about her concerns on getting a bale of hay with her car (in bad shape) and horse trailer and with the snow still in our yard. As ever, he offered to help. The wide shovel was on his 1982 Deutz Intrac, and he would pop down to clear the snow so that I can get my tractor out and collect a bale from him. Great idea even if I wasn't overly pleased at the thought of driving my cabriolet for 4km at freezing temperature but far worse strong wind making it good 5 degrees colder.
Andreas was here in minutes, cleared the way and then said "I'll go back & try putting the bale in the shovel. 15 minutes later the bale was in the horse stable. What a result, thank you as always Andreas.
For those with good memories, Andreas has good three more tractors, including a pretty new large Claas tractor with great hay/straw bale grabber. Most farmers don't like to use their best tractors on the roads in winter due to the salt.
Andreas is also an elected county councillor for the Green Party. I asked him about our new County Council leader from the "Free Voters" Party, somewhere between right Bavarian Conservatives & the fascist AfD, as I have heard strange things in the press regarding his thoughts on Corona. Andreas confirmed - he is from the Conspiracy theory, no masks, throw kids at schools lot. Such a shame - our previous CC Head from that same party but from the earliest days when they were party for caring & rural issues was a real champion of health care.
In the afternoon Angie took her car to Erkheim to leave it there at a garage so that they can have a look at it and estimate what repairs will cost. I picked her up 40 mins later. The weather was +1°C and light ain but the very strong wind was drifting the snow onto the road making it very tricky or better said dangerous one moment road clear and fine to do 100km/h go around a corner & you get into 15cm deep snow. She had seen a car & occupants in a field after it hit a drift, crossed oncoming lane, down embankment, across a 5m farm track used by pedestrians and into a field! No sign of any damage though!
Due to get up to possibly +8°C next few days!
