One of the buzzards circling low
In a break in the gloom and dampness I spotted two buzzards flying together in classic circles to pick up any uplift they could find. They live in woodland a little higher up The Horns valley and regularly fly over us looking for food in the back gardens bordering the lower part of the valley.
It was tricky focusing in the air above the trees and with such low light. This bird's feathers look in very good condition comapred to some I've seen. Perhaps it was one of last year's brood. I don't know how long their feathers last. Many bird species moult regualry so perhaps buzzards do as well.
