Floods!

Yesterday I got called out late afternoon to a flood in our churchyard due to a burst culvert. We're at the bottom of the hill so get all the water from the fields above us coming through a culvert under our churchyard on its way to the brook. Unfortunately the drain had burst and our churchyard was flooding. 

The constant rain over night hasn't helped. Today I had a funeral and while we were in the service the rain came down even heavier (if that's possible) than it had been, resulting in the road drains overflowing as well, flooding the road and the whole of our entrance gate with quite deep water. Our paths were all flooded too so we had to paddle to the grave. 

We'd also been cold in church. The heating wasn't working and, when we investigated, that was due to the boiler room being flooded with about a foot of water in it. 

I returned home cold and soaked and haven't managed to warm up yet, despite a hot shower.
