A bright new day

"There is always a light, if only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it." - Amanda Gorman (National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman at the inauguration of US President Joe Biden, January 2021)

Today I walked to the sea front (with street dog Sandy and others) for bright sunshine and fresh air.  Like yesterday, it was cold, but unlike yesterday, it wasn't windy. It's the first time I've done this walk since mid December, but after yesterday's doldrums, I realized I need to get out and about a bit. The sun created dancing diamonds on the very calm sea, so lovely to watch.

Online teaching for a couple of hours in the late afternoon, a video call with Caitlin in Istanbul, the vegetarian lasagne I prepared yesterday for dinner and then I settled down to watch the inauguration ceremony for #46th, making history in almost uncountable ways. The relief is palpable, and I'm not even American!  The world is exhausted don't you think, after four years of ignorant egotistical divide-and-rule.  Today is surely a bright new start. Joe Biden's speech was all that it should be, VP Harris is a ray of hope and Amanda Gorman's performance was the light of inspiration.  I may even write a poem myself!

Looking forward Blip buddies, be safe.
