Road trip

Another stunning day today so eldest daughter and I took ourselves off on a road trip down to Sleat. We went for a couple of walks, had lunch at the Ardvasar Hotel and then headed round to Taskavaig where daughter wanted to go and see a ruined castle (Dunscaith Castle) that she had visited on a school trip a few years ago.

Now I do not have a head for heights (even relatively low heights) and it transpired once we eventually walked to the castle that the access bridge had rotted away and the only way to get across was to walk along a narrow ledge which once supported the wooden beams of the bridge. It was only about 6 ft high off the ground below but that was more than enough for me and daughter had to spend quite some time cajoling me into going across, which I finally managed to do, practically hyperventilating the short distance across. I must say it was worth it as the views to the Cuillin were magnificent! Once back across the narrow ledge and back on solid ground I got a big hug (but no lollypop!) for being a brave girl!

How safely back home I think a small drink may be required to steady my still shattered nerves!
