Disappeared blip.

In November 2018 we were in Austin, Texas, visiting a family member.
A tour of the magnificent Capitol building was a must.
As it was the end of November we had a lovely young enthusiastic tour guide all to ourselves, able to ask lots of questions and take our time.
The young man was very pleased that two English people showed so much interest in the workings of the State.
How different to yesterday when it was heavily guarded against any more attempts at insurrection.
I wrote about the Inauguration yesterday and posted a photo taken from a screen shot.
Not long afterwards it was removed. I did not know that it was contrary to blip policy, probably for copyright reasons.
A few people commented before it disappeared.
The ceremony yesterday went without a hitch and although truncated and masked, it did not detract from the sense of occasion nor the relief and emotion it must have generated in so many Americans.
I was pleased that Mike Pence had the decency to be there when his former master had slunk off to Florida.
Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez both moved me with their songs, but the young poet, Amanda Gorman, stole the show with her own piece “The Hill we Climb”.
This swearing in of Joe Biden was unlike anything else ever witnessed.
As one of the commentators remarked, it was like looking out over a war zone city, with its humvees, guards, razor wire, and blocked roads.
I hope people never forget why it had to be so.
I toasted the new President and Vice President with a G&T as I watched the whole thing yesterday afternoon.
Now the task, such a strenuous, hard and difficult one ahead, begins, of trying to bring some healing to a very divided land.
