Bow and Run
My Dear Princess, Loulou and Fellows,
I bought myself an old book online. It was not expensive, and I really wanted it.
As I've mentioned, I'm curious about what blackbirds are getting up to in the back garden. And they seem so smart. So I bought myself, "A Study of Blackbirds" by D. W. Snow*. I was pleased to read in the introduction that he started this study in the same spirit as I bought this book - just because he had been watching them and wanted to know more about them.
But I haven't really got into it yet. I'm just enjoying the style of the book. It is full of illustrations. And it has that old book smell, and a little label at the front, indicating that someone won it as a prize in a "Bird and Tree Competition" (see the extras).
I hope this is just the first in a shelf full of books with their own personality.
S.
* This made me think of J.R. Hartley.
