horns of wilmington's cow

Wintry Edinburgh

Why did I get up at 6.30am to go and walk in the snow? I missed out a little on this as a kid. I suffered really badly with Raynaud’s, which meant if it was cold I could only really take an hour at most outside before the numb pain in my hands and feet got too much. I remember going on a primary school skiing trip, and after a brief shot in the morning I spent the entire next session sat on the bus trying to get warm.

As I’ve got older (and I don’t think coincidentally, fitter) it’s less of an issue. Still there, bit nowhere near as bad, and I can deal with it better. So I take every chance I can to get out in the snow. I missed the Beast from the East, getting stuck with work in the Netherlands, that had no snow whatsoever, so I wasn’t going to miss this chance. All a bit wet, it won’t last long, so take the opportunity while you can!
