Old man's beard
Dripping of trees in clear-air woodlands, these bushy beard lichens adorn twigs and branches and are seen throughout the UK, albeit not in areas with pollution levels.
Was used as wound dressings to prevent infections and is said to prevent urinary tract and lung disorders. Was also described as a hair growth stimulant in 300BC. It's amazing what Dr Google can tell you.
Tried puffing it once as a youngster camping - luckily it put me off smoking for life.
