Anfield, 1901

As I struggle to remember what I did yesterday, my back-blipping has little or no chance of accuracy.

My grandmother was born in 1901. She was a fanatical Liverpool supporter and was responsible for introducing me to the game. She, it was, who gave me my first match as a birthday present: the UEFA Cup final against Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1973. It got rained off after 20 minutes, so I got to go back the next night too. 

It is therefore appropriate to post this picture of Anfield in 1901. Very different and yet very similar to modern crowds. It was also, I believe, the last time Liverpool scored a goal. So how about that for a coincidence!
