Hardy types...

.. these tree-planters.  The snow arrived an hour ahead of schedule.  The trees for the day's planting had been lifted, so had to be planted.  Because of the deer damage, we need 4-5ft tree guards, which means 4-5ft trees, which requires substantial holes to be dug in soil that is criss-crossed by myriad small roots from the existing trees.  Each tree is taking almost 1 manhour to plant, including pre-pruning to fit the guard and the addition of mycorrhizal fungi and bonemeal to give them a good start.
