Gull at Palais Chaillot
This is an unplanned follow-up to yesterday's gull blip. It's taken at the esplanade at the Palais de Chaillot with a classic view of the Eiffel Tower. Just behind it is the clutzy Tour Montparnasse, while the golden dome on the left is the Invalides.
As yesterday, this is again a Black-headed Gull--by far the commonest gull in Paris. The objective here was for Gregory to photograph the vivid Art Deco reliefs on on the circular exterior of the Palais (it's a museum complex).
We then went on to a marvelous exhibition on Chagall at the Luxembourg museum. A key theme was Chagall's marriage and the tragic death of his wife in 1944 just as they hoped to return to Paris from New York. As it happens, my year-earlier blip is of a Jewish wedding couple at the Louvre metro station--don't miss it.
