Life's tangled skein

Henrietta has always been very careful to look after her health. Back in the 1980s, she was really into bearobics, but looking back on it she is not sure that a leotard really suited her all that well.

Since then, she has joined in with many of the exercise fads – Tae Bear and Bearish Military Fitness were popular, but now she is slightly more sedate. She prefers Polartes and (of course) yogi.

Recently she decided to buy a large exercise ball. She was told that it would help her strengthen her core muscles, by forcing her to use them to support her and steady her back. All she needs to do is sit on the ball as she knits or watches TV of an evening.

Of course, it would be better if her feet could reach the ground, but she knows she just has to grin and… tolerate it.

So far, she is doing very well with her exercise, but does admit that when nobody’s around, she has been known to sit in a normal chair and simply slouch. “But only when I am completely on my own,” she says with a twinkle in her eye.
