Life's tangled skein

2015-08-15 (Day 227) ROSS

Today I had the great pleasure of going to Lancaster University to see the closing day of the 2015 ROSS Performance Summer School.

ROSS is a school that, over the course of a week, puts together extracts from three shows, fully costumes and stages those extracts, and then performs them before a public audience on the final day. There are two performances of each extract and, where possible, the principal parts are double-cast (so if you are a principal in the afternoon performance, you won’t be playing the same part in the evening).

I used to be a regular at ROSS, but for various reasons have been unable to take part for a few years. However, it was lovely to go to the school and be welcomed back so warmly, and to see the extracts.

I swore I wasn’t going to take lots of pictures, but I did manage a few. It was hard to decide which to use, but this was the very first one I took and so it seemed fair to use that. The show is Stephen Sondheim’s Follies; this is the curtain call at the end of a wonderfully-performed extract (as indeed, all of the extracts were).
