2016-03-24 (Day 084) Grangemouth Spitfire
RAF Grangemouth helped to defend the Forth Bridge and the Rosyth Dockyard during the Battle Of Britain in 1940. It was also a training base where young men from all over Europe - especially Poland - came to learn how to fly the iconic Spitfire. Sadly 71 such men lost their lives in training, as every conceivable corner was cut to get men trained to fly as quickly as possible.
To commemorate this, a life-size replica Spitfire has been set up as a memorial to these brave pilots.
I think what is most impressive is how small this aircraft is. It must have been quite an experience to fly one.
