Health and saftey
Today's (back blipped) 12p stamp from 1980 features the goods and post carriages, and as you can see they didn't worry about safety back in 1830, you just climbed aboard.... To be honest I don't think anything about trains was all that safe until more than a century later - steam engines are fundamentally lethal - though awesome at the same time....
In 1980 I was in primary school and going through the trauma of being moved about. The county engineers decided that the school was structurally unsound, and after just spending money to re-wire and then paint the building they promptly moved the school to a share with another one, and then knocked the building down... At the time I believe the building was about 120 years old, had outside toilets (with no roof) and had zero green space - and had been really inadequate for quite a few years already!
A long busy day today, had to work late to catch up, hence this has been backblipped a day later.
