About The House

These are the other houses that are now about/around our house. We are the one in the middle with the outside light on.

When we first moved here all that we could see at the bottom of our garden was an enormous pile of topsoil. Over the years a few more houses, a community centre and a GP surgery have been added but luckily a gap was left which meant we kept our view of the hill.

Another typical lockdown day. Sainsbury's delivery this morning. Then I set up the new Echo Show that we got yesterday. We've got four of these devices now so it can get confusing when we want to use a skill on a particular device. We have now decided to use a couple of different wake up words. While we were discussing this solution mrsfb whispered 'Alexa' so as not to get a response. Of course Alexa heard it and said something like 'did you whisper to me then, would you like me to enter whisper mode'. You can't get away with anything. I bet she can lip read too.

I've managed to get the Ring doorbell to display the video on the Show when the doorbell is pressed, which is a nice feature. All we need now are some visitors to try it out.
