2019-05-17 (Day 137) The Flying Scotsman
On a whim, I drove home through Bo'ness this evening. There were several groups of people gathered along the route of the railway line, and I wondered why. A little bit of googling showed that the Flying Scotsman was coming through, so I hung around too.
The Flying Scotsman. Built in 1923, it set two world records - the first train to be confirmed at 100mph and then the longest non-stop run (422 miles).
Prior to this, she regularly hauled trains on the East Coast main ine between Edinburgh and London, on an eight-hour non-stop journey between the two capitals.
The Flying Scotsman will be available for public viewing at Bo'ness Station tomorrow (Saturday) between 1000 and 1600. More information from https://www.bkrailway.co.uk/legendary-locomotive-60103-flying-scotsman-makes-return-visit-boness-on-18th-may-2019/
