Cats will be cats..
Welcomed this morning by this snipe. Cat(s) had brought it into the back kitchen and left it. Pile of feathers by the door, but (seemingly) no other damage. Placed it in a cardboard box and in a dark warm place for a couple of hours, and although still alive, spotted some major trauma around the neck.
Decided to put it out of it's misery.
Domestic cats are the biggest predator on snipe, we've had half a dozen or so in the house over 4 years. One was brought in while we were watching a DVD, and it ran under the settee. I captured and released it back to the wild. Probably 50% rescue success..
