Flooding at Belton
Off out early (for us) to take Basil to the grooming parlour near Osgathorpe. This meant taking the road west through Belton crossing the Black Brook at the bottom of the hill on Hallamford Road. The extra photo shows the new housing estate creeping down the hill. I wouldn't want to live there.
The Black Brook has overflowed its banks and water has flowed off the fields to be impounded behind the hedge lining the road. It's constantly flooding here and has seen standing water for the past few weeks. See extra of car driving through. This is our only route west out of the village bar the A512 which we don't always want to take.
Today's view is of standing water in a field at Belton not too far from the village centre. The Grace Dieu Brook has overflowed extensively in this area. Seems to me that Environment Agency has been fire fighting the Black Brook while ignoring Grace Dieu Brook from which water is being channeled via a roadside ditch to the Black Brook catchment.
Quiet without Basil. We went shopping in Shepshed. I always like going to the Urban Farm Shop. The produce is always fresh.
Back to pick up Basil at 1pm. Home where I had another look at my Lens Baby macro converter. I was right. The 8mm had got stuck inside the 16mm. No wonder I couldn't take photos with it yesterday. Took a few shots of flowers around the house. It's working. What a relief.
