Raindrops on Snowdrops
We had heavy rain overnight and all morning, per my rain gauge we've had 1.5 inches in a week or so on top of already saturated ground. We've had a lot more rain than normal than normal over the last two years as per this website https://www.worldweatheronline.com/holt-weather-averages/norfolk/gb.aspx (3rd graph down). Where I used to live in MK has the same pattern. I was wondering if others have had the same?
Day 319 / Day 24 of Lockdown 3 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 1,239 to 103,126 (revised basis), with 28,680 new cases, 36,931 patients in hospital, 3,937 on ventilation and 3,088 new admissions. c7.4m have now received their first dose of the vaccine. Germany's vaccine committee is recommending the AZ vaccine is not given to over 65s due to insufficient data about effectiveness. PHE says there were 'too few cases in older people in the AZ trials to observe precise levels of protection in this group, but data on immune response were very reassuring.' The EU row with AZ not fulfilling promised vaccine doses continues, with the EU demanding plans showing how they'll deliver and that UK factories are part of their advance purchase agreements. PHE says that rates are continuing to fall in all regions of England and all age groups. Imperial College's REACT study says 1 in 64 in England have the virus between 6th & 22nd Jan, suggesting at R of 0.92-1.04. T&T shows a 17% decrease in those testing positive to w/e 20th Jan from the previous week, with 70.8% of in person test results being received within 24 hours (the highest since w/e 29th July). Two men have each been given a £10k fine for organising a mass snowball fight in West Yorks.
