Project 365 day 28: Twilight
The light had almost gone by the time I got out of the house today, but the shapes of the trees were crisp against the twilight sky and the rooks were returning to their nests and branches in the avenue. I walked into the village to post a cheque through a letterbox, payment for my gardening society order of seed potatoes. I hadn't written a cheque for about 18 months, and haven't been anywhere to acquire cash since last March; I've managed to move most of my transactions online, along with much of my life.
The morning was wet, but I was pleased I managed to join my yoga class on Zoom, and then revelled in the quiet luxury of my post yoga coffee and toasted bagel in the armchair. I don't have many such moments, so they are precious. Later, our kind neighbour knocked at the door to deliver the prescription for my daughter she had collected from Tesco, together with two packs of Seville oranges for marmalade. They have been out of stock online for the past two weeks, so I'm delighted to have some before it's too late for this year's marmalade. S has collected all our prescriptions since March, and I'm very grateful; we never imagined we would still be shielding almost eleven months later.
