Vintage (1990’s) Richmond Rugby Shirt

L3 Day 42. This morning we took an old laptop to Richmond Rugby Club. They will sort them out and distribute to local schools for pupils who are in need of better equipment, a great local initiative. The club was founded in 1861 so it is one of the oldest Football clubs in the world. In 1909 a team played in the inaugural match v Harlequins at Twickenham Stadium. In 1996 the club became the first professional rugby team so it outgrew the Richmond Athletic Club ground and became tenants of the Madejski Stadium in Reading. But the club went into administration in 1999 resulting in many of the professional players going elsewhere and the amateur club was reformed in 2000. Our family did go to several matches in the 1990’s and I found a rugby shirt from that era when I got home! We also had our first Covid vaccinations.
