Odds & Bits
Noticed in the morning my hair was looking awful. Well to be honest it always looks awful, but it was looking dreadfully awful. I mentioned it to Angie and with glee she offered to have a "go". Never done it before, refused all my suggestions to study any of the masses of "How To" videos on YouTube and simply did it.
I survived, no blood was spilt, but neither was coffee nor a Car magazine offered to me. The tip was correspondingly very low ... a thanks. What was that old 1970s Snoopy stuff "Love is never having to tip"
At least in the afternoon I gave her a free ride in my car to Erkheim to collect her car from the garage where they have been working on it for a week. The major problems have been dealt with, a couple of new tyres to fit next week and some ordered part to be put in. While there we both filled up at the supermarket petrol station, the cheapest anywhere around. I also need a canister for the snow blower in case we do get some more snow. Angie in the photo wearing a FFP2 mask which is obligatory in all shops, public transport and government buildings. Even here at the supermarket car park & petrol station. This week as an OAP I got a voucher from the government for 12 free FFP2 masks for the first quarter. We got 3 masks free in December.
Then just 300 m away parked the car next to the drive-in Corona test station - only for people without any symptoms. No queues but you do need to book an appointment. There is little call for it and I think it is only operating 4 or 5 afternoons a week. That despite our county having the worst case ration in the area 132/100,000 and one of the worst in Bavaria. We sadly elected a County Council chief last March who was the successor of the previous long serving head who had been absolutely 100% behind health issues and protection of local hospitals. This one has turned out to be a right wing populist, an anti-masker, throw children into schools, it's only the flu, people. It's very annoying as under our federal system, the Council head has control of all health issues, care homes, hospital & schools. He is blaming outbreaks in care homes, yet he is the one who makes the rules as to how they operate & precautions & testing.
Luna & I did a walk from there in a howling gale but at least dry and not freezing cold. Past the local riding club where we also met Angie again picking up a 25 kg sack of carrots for the horses for €6. The bent ones the supermarkets won't accept, otherwise perfect - the wholesaler drives around all the horse place in the area every Friday, and we have a standing order. Liked the horse standing there looking as though it was not enthralled about the 1-hour Jane Fonda workout it seemed to be dressed up for.
