#Pledge100 Tulips

I've pledged to take and post 100 photographs of tulips this year in support of the Mamie Martin Fund. MMF supports girls' education in Malawi but not in a colonialist fashion. It does such important work. The #Pledge100 campaign is about raising funds, of course, but also about raising awareness. Anyone can join in and do 100 things during 2021. A friend, for example, is doing 100 open water swims.

My idea is less of a mission than that. Quite why I started in January is a mystery as most tulips are still tucked up underground. There'll be a rush in spring when the tulips in the garden put in an appearance. I planted a lot in the autumn and I'm hoping they all come to something worth a photo.

Here is the end of a bunch of tulips which have given lots of pleasure for the past 10 days. I don't think there's any other flower which is such a joy at every stage. Another MMF friend calls this the 'Elizabeth Blackadder' stage.

There was an early start here after a fractured night so we'll be kind to ourselves with gentle exercise and a couple of family online catchups. Oh and the RSPB Great Garden Birdwatch. Have a good Sunday everyone.
