arch - take three

...over the past two days, I have featured a little of the story of Denis Bond and the 12th century arch that was moved from the priory church at East Holme to the new chapel at the family seat of Creech Grange. My final image of this mini-series on Bond family arches is of Grange Arch, the folly that Denis Bond had constructed, in 1745, on the top of Ridgeway Hill directly above the south aspect of the big house. I did drop a little clue yesterday about it being a triptych. The monument is now in the hands of the National Trust. The footpath from the MOD car park to the folly, forms part of a wonderful coast-to-coast walk that runs from the sea cliffs at Flower's Barrow to Old Harry Rocks.
