Coming in to land

I went out for some fresh air this afternoon, to Orrell Water Park. I decided to take the big lens with me. Walking round the lake someone stopped me and asked if I wanted to see a kingfisher. Absolutely! She said they'd just seen one in the woods near the pond and when she saw my lens thought I might be interested. Of course, I went to the pond and hung around there a long time but didn't see one. 

Near the pond there's a hide with some bird feeders. It was interesting that they've opened it up a lot so there was a bit more light. I spent quite a bit of time there, although it was rather cold. 

I liked this shot but also though the one in the extras was fun too.
