The Long and Winding Road

I mentioned on Friday that, as well as the Strava app challenges I’d signed up to, I had set myself a personal challenge of undertaking some sort of measurable exercise every day in January. In spite of damaging my Achilles on the first run of the year, I was still able to walk a total of 132km this month - a good majority of which was probably along this riverside path! Add in the 25km I did manage to run and I’ve covered nigh on 100 miles in total this month. If I’d strung them altogether, I’d be at my Mum’s house in Chester by now - though I wouldn’t be able to call in to see her under current regulations!!
We’ve been quite lucky with the weather this month - the cold and snow can be dealt with by adding extra layers so it’s only really torrential rain that has prevented any sort of walk. Thankfully, this was only on a couple of days and I made sure I did weight training instead so that there was activity to record.
All in all, I have spent just over 45 hours this month either walking, running or weight training. No wonder I’m knackered!

(I’ve just had a sneaky peek at the Strava challenges for February. The walking one looks a bit easier - go out four times a week, rather than cover a specific distance - but the weight training one is going to need an extra workout each week. Would have been a lot easier if we’d been allowed back in the gym, but I’m sure I can think of something!)
