Craigmillar Castle
Sunday so it's a longish walk day - 12 miles. Along the cycle path by the Innocent Tunnel and up to Craigmillar Castle which dates back to the 12th century. Great views back to the city. Round towards Little France and then back down to The Thistle Foundation Village in Craigmillar.
The Thistle Foundation was set up after the Second World War as a garden village for disabled servicemen and their families to live. In 2007 it was designated as a conservation area The Robin Chapel and some of the housing has listed building status. The 'village' is still in full use following the ethos of its setup - they support people living with disabilities, long term conditions or facing challenging life situations to live well, whatever that means to them.
