The Calm

There is a wonderful moment before the students arrive. The room is silent and you see their belongings scattered, and you see their books thrown about and for some reason it is peaceful to me. Then they walk in and the room becomes so loud (which is nice too) and that silence is gone. I like to think of it as the calm before the storm. I like to think about the possibilities of that day with them.

I am thankful for those few minutes where the room is empty and quiet and I can prepare the lesson for them. Their voices are great when the come in-but there is a beauty to that silence which I am thankful for.
