Selwa
Selwa, is a pooch that lives a couple of doors away from me.
Recently acquired by myneighbour, the warm winter sun, seems to have had an effect on her, as she is growing almost daily! Selwa, is no longer the bounding puppy she was a short while ago, she has become a very gentle and very well loved young lady, by everyone in our street.
A dogs main role here in Luxor, is to protect property and animals. Chickens, horses, ducks, most people have a small holding, enabling them to be self sufficient.
During the day, Selwa roams free in the street and plays with the children, sounding the alarm, only when she doesn't know the person or the car approaching (A perfect security system) By night, she turns into guardian of the animals she shares her home with.
Having moved on so quickly into young, but adult life, her owner had asked me about 'The operation' so she would not have 'Babies' a very responsible move I thought and best for all concerned. So an appointment was made to visit Animal Care Egypt (ACE BLOG) to be spayed.
This is Selwa, undergoing her operation, performed by Dr Asmaa and observed by Shaimaaa. A student vet in her final year from Qena Veterinary University, Shaimaa comes to ACE 2 days a week, to learn, observe and study, the high standard of animal care and practice carried out here.
After spending a couple of hours in the recovery room, I brought Selwa home, a little sore, but very happy to be back with her family.
Thanks to Dr Asmaa and the team at ACE, who provide this operation, care and treatment for animals, totally free for Egyptian people.
