Port Botany
Walked along the foreshore either side of the container port to Mill Stream Lookout at the airport end and a waterbird sanctuary with a circular viewing platform at the other. Midday was probably not the best time but we spotted pelicans, cormorants, gulls and a solitary heron. The other side of the bay is a breeding area for endangered little terns.
In other news, I read today that rats have finally been eradicated from Lord Howe Island, home to other endangered and unique species.
