Male duck

Today my husband is feeling awful (third cycle of chemo) and has had to go to bed this afternoon. 
I walked down to the marine lake and did manage to spot the goosander but it was too far away to photograph. Then I went to the park and the pond has some new ducks which look quite like mallards but are twice the size. My neighbour who knows everything there is to know about all birds, assures me that they are a cross between a mallard and a farmyard duck. 
I will be so pleased when the weather dries up so we can do some different walks throufh the woods and over the common but at the moment it is far too muddy and slippery there.
