Sky Fall
No need to panic like a fearful Chicken Licken or Penny Henry type, as the sky was not falling today, but merely reflected in my fly fishing lake. The only downside was that I did blank after fly fishing all day, but hey, it still beats working on a Monday.
Thank goodness also for the Angling Trust who had managed somehow to convince the Government to reverse its initial ban this January on all recreational fishing in the third lockdown. After being lobbied, the Cabinet Office finally conceded that whilst not conventional outdoor exercise, fishing is still good for ones physical health and mental wellbeing - and let’s be honest it is a usually solitary pursuit anyway.
So it was on a freezing but beautiful sunny Monday morning, my employer (i.e. me) allowed me to wag off work and head to nearby Marton Heath Trout Pools. There was no one around to infect or be infected by - other than catching avian flu from the many ducks and swans.
