Fisherman

Arthritis in the knee playing up today, so couldn't walk very far. Took the car to the river and parked at the edge of an old quay. It's quite a popular beauty spot, so the birds on the river weren't frightened by the car and the egret was fishing quite close to the bank.

It caught a flatfish which was too big for it to eat, so it carried away from the water, dropped it and then continued fishing. As I left, it flew away upriver, leaving the flatfish for any scavengers.
